About Kathy

My goal as a therapist is to help clients become stewards of their own psychological well being, so that they can resolve their life's challenges with self-awareness, compassion and resilience. I believe psychotherapy is a journey not meant to “cure”, but rather an exploratory process to help you gain insight into yourself and your behavior so that you can access strategies to enrich your life.  I truly believe life gives us many opportunities to grow and evolve into the people we desire to become.
As a consultant, I have worked for several decades as a trainer, adviser and facilitator   most recently  at UC Davis as a Mental Health Consultant where I created and presented on a variety of metal health topics including suicide prevention and gate keeper trainings.  Prior to my work at UC Davis, I was a mental health therapist in private practice for over 25 years.  In my earlier work I served as a staff member at the University of Oregon Counseling Center in which I provided mental health therapy and supervision.  I have an extensive social services background, in working with disadvantaged and underserved populations towards life improvement and wellness.
I hold a master’s degree in social work from Portland State University and have been licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in the State of Oregon since 1987.   I have a life-long partner and am the mother two wonderful adult sons and a daughter-in-law.  I thoroughly enjoy engaging with people and learning from them.
